Colour Correction Services
Colour correction and scalp lightening are advanced technical services that require careful assessment, controlled formulation and a personalised service plan.
These appointments cannot be booked without Chantal’s prior approval. A consultation must first take place either in person or over the phone so Chantal can assess your colour history, current condition, desired result and the safest pathway forward.
Depending on your starting point, colour correction may involve fading unwanted artificial pigment, preparing the hair for a new colour direction, correcting uneven colour or completing several colour and treatment stages across one or more appointments.
Scalp lightening requires equally careful planning because the lightener is applied directly to the regrowth or scalp area. The correct service, formulation, processing time and follow-up toner must be confirmed before booking.
Who is this service for?
Colour correction and scalp lightening services may be suitable for clients wanting to:
• Fade an unwanted artificial colour
• Remove accumulated dark pigment
• Prepare the hair for a lighter colour direction
• Correct colour that has become too dark
• Reduce tonal build-up through the lengths
• Correct uneven or patchy colour
• Transition away from a previous colour result
• Maintain an existing scalp-lightened blonde
• Complete a first-time all-over scalp lightening service
• Create a professionally planned corrective colour pathway
Common Concerns
• Colour that is darker than intended
• Unwanted artificial pigment remaining in the hair
• Repeated colour applications causing excessive build-up
• Uneven colour through the roots, mid-lengths and ends
• Previous home colour producing an unpredictable result
• Warm, muddy or overly saturated colour
• Difficulty moving from dark hair toward a lighter result
• Scalp-lightened regrowth becoming visible
• Uncertainty about whether the hair can safely be lightened
• Hair requiring colour removal before another service can begin
Consultation and Approach
A consultation is compulsory before any colour correction or scalp lightening appointment can be booked.
During the consultation, Chantal will assess:
• Your natural colour and current artificial colour
• Previous salon and home-colour history
• Whether permanent, semi-permanent or direct dye is present
• The amount of colour build-up through the hair
• Hair strength, porosity and elasticity
• Scalp condition and sensitivity
• The desired result
• The number of stages that may be required
• Toner, treatment and finishing services needed afterward
Photographs may help with an initial phone consultation, but an in-person assessment or strand test may still be required before the final service plan is approved.
Results and maintenance
Colour correction is rarely a single-formula service. The result depends on the pigments currently present, how many times the hair has been coloured, the products previously used and the condition of the hair.
A colour-removal or fading service may reduce artificial pigment without completely removing it. Several stages may be necessary before the hair is ready for the desired colour.
Chantal will prioritise the integrity of the hair and will not proceed with a service that is likely to cause unreasonable damage or scalp irritation.
Price Guidance
-Colour Bath
$100 · Approximately 45 minutes
A basin-based colour-fading service designed to soften and reduce artificial pigment that is no longer wanted.
The colour bath uses a specialised colour-stripping shampoo formulation applied at the basin. It may help fade the existing colour by up to approximately three shades, depending on the type of pigment present, how long it has been in the hair and the condition and porosity of the hair.
This service may be used to:
• Soften an unwanted dark colour
• Reduce artificial pigment before recolouring
• Fade colour build-up
• Prepare the hair for the next stage of a correction
• Create a more workable colour canvas
A colour bath does not guarantee the complete removal of artificial colour. Uneven or resistant pigment may require further correction.
A treatment, toner, colour service and appropriate finishing appointment may also be required following the colour bath.
-Organic Colour Fading
Balance Sparkle and Shine
Price determined by the amount of product required
A non-bleach colour-fading option designed to help shrink and release artificial dye molecules from the hair.
This service may create approximately one to two shades of fading, depending on the colour present, the number of previous applications and how the hair responds.
Because it is not a conventional bleaching service, it may be considered when Chantal wants to begin fading a darker artificial colour while taking a more conservative approach to the condition of the hair.
It may be suitable for:
• Gradually fading darker artificial colour
• Reducing pigment build-up
• Beginning a staged colour correction
• Clients who are not suitable for aggressive lightening
• Preparing the hair for a future colour service
Pricing is based on the amount of product needed for the length, density and saturation of the hair.
This service must be approved following consultation. Additional fading sessions, toner, colour balancing, treatment or finishing services may be required.
Scalp Lightening Services
-Scalp Lightening Regrowth
$180 · Approximately 2 hours
A maintenance lightening service for clients who already have an established scalp-lightened colour and require the new regrowth to be lightened.
The lightener is applied directly to the regrowth area so that it can be brought toward the level of the existing blonde through the lengths.
This is a highly technical service that requires careful application, timing and formulation to reduce overlap onto previously lightened hair.
A toner must be added after the lightening service to refine the final shade.
A treatment may also be required, followed by the appropriate After-Colour Dry-Off, blow-dry, styling or cutting service.
This appointment may only be booked after Chantal has approved the service.
-First-Time All-Over Scalp Lightening
$260 · Approximately 3 hours
A complete first-time scalp lightening service for clients who do not already have an established scalp-lightened blonde.
The lightener is applied through the full required area from the scalp to the existing lengths, depending on the starting colour and agreed service plan.
Because the hair may process differently at the roots, mid-lengths and ends, the service requires detailed application and close monitoring.
A toner must be booked after the lightening service to create the intended final shade.
A treatment must also be added where required, followed by the appropriate After-Colour Dry-Off, blow-dry, styling or cutting service.
This service cannot be booked without prior consultation and approval from Chantal.
-Which Service May Be Appropriate?
A Colour Bath may be recommended when artificial colour needs to be faded relatively quickly at the basin before another corrective step.
Organic Colour Fading may be considered when Chantal recommends a gentler, staged approach to reducing darker artificial pigment.
Scalp Lightening Regrowth is for approved clients maintaining an existing scalp-lightened blonde.
First-Time All-Over Scalp Lightening is for clients beginning a complete scalp-lightened result and requires a full consultation and service plan.
The correct option must be determined by Chantal rather than selected without professional assessment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I book these services online?
No. Colour correction and scalp lightening services require Chantal’s approval before they can be booked.
Contact Chantal for an in-person or telephone consultation first.
Why is a consultation compulsory?
The outcome and safety of these services depend heavily on your previous colour history, current pigment, hair condition and scalp health.
The consultation allows Chantal to determine whether the requested result is achievable and which services must be reserved.
Will a colour bath remove all of my previous colour?
Not necessarily.
A colour bath is designed to fade and soften artificial colour. The amount removed will vary depending on the dye type, depth, age, build-up and condition of the hair.
Can colour correction be completed in one appointment?
Sometimes, but not always.
Dark colour build-up, uneven colour and major transformations frequently require several stages or appointments to protect the condition of the hair.
Does organic colour fading contain bleach?
This service is described as a non-bleach colour-fading method. It is intended to help shrink and release artificial dye molecules rather than lighten the hair in the same way as conventional bleach.
Chantal will confirm whether it is suitable for your colour history.
