Foiling Services
Chantal’s foiling services are designed to create brightness, depth, contrast and dimension through carefully placed highlights or lowlights.
From a subtle scattering of foils to a complete full-head transformation, each placement is personalised according to your existing colour, natural growth pattern, haircut, hair condition and desired result.
Foils can be used to create a soft, natural finish, introduce depth through lowlights, brighten selected areas or produce a much lighter overall result. The number, size and placement of the foils will determine how subtle or transformative the finished colour appears.
Please note that foiling services include the foil application, processing and basin work only. Toner, treatment and finishing services must be booked separately when required.
Who is this service for?
Foiling services are suitable for clients wanting to:
• Add brightness around the face
• Create subtle or noticeable highlights
• Add depth and contrast with lowlights
• Break up a flat or solid colour
• Blend natural regrowth into lighter lengths
• Introduce multidimensional colour
• Refresh selected areas between larger appointments
• Create fine, blended or more defined lightness
• Begin a gradual transition toward a lighter colour
• Correct or soften an uneven existing colour
Common Concerns
• Hair looking flat or one-dimensional
• Dark or heavy areas requiring brightness
• Existing blonde lacking dimension
• Regrowth becoming too noticeable
• Colour appearing too solid or uniform
• A need for softer blending around the face
• Previous highlights becoming too grown out
• Hair needing depth without becoming darker overall
• Uneven colour requiring strategic placement
• Uncertainty about how many foils are needed
Consultation and Approach
Each foiling appointment begins with an assessment of your existing colour, natural base, previous chemical services, hair condition and desired level of brightness.
Chantal will determine whether highlights, lowlights or a combination of both will best achieve the desired result. Foils may be placed around the face, through the parting, scattered throughout selected areas or applied across the entire head.
The placement, thickness and spacing of each foil are tailored to the individual. Fine foils can create a softer blended effect, while stronger placement can create more visible contrast and brightness.
For significant lightening, back-to-back foiling or colour correction, a consultation with Chantal is required before booking.
What Is Included?
Foiling appointments include:
• Colour consultation and foil-placement planning
• Professional highlight or lowlight application
• Required processing time
• Foil removal and basin rinse
• Shampooing following the foil service
Toner, root shadow, treatment, dry-off, blow-dry, styling and cutting are not automatically included.
Toner Requirements
When foils are used to lighten the hair, a toner is generally required to refine the resulting tone and create the intended finish.
When the service consists only of lowlights, toner may not be necessary.
Chantal will determine whether a full toner, root shadow toner or another colour service is required based on the finished lift and desired result.
Results and maintenance
The result and maintenance schedule will depend on the number of foils, their placement, your natural colour, the level of contrast and how quickly your hair grows.
Quarter- and half-head services can be used for maintenance or targeted dimension, while full-head foils create a more complete result throughout the hair.
Lighter results will usually require toner maintenance between larger foiling appointments. Chantal will recommend the appropriate timing and home-care products to help protect the tone and condition of your hair.
Price Guidance
Quarter Head of Foils and Wash
$180 · Approximately 80 minutes
A targeted foiling service designed to create subtle brightness, depth or dimension in selected areas.
The appointment allows approximately:
• 40 minutes for application
• 30 minutes for processing
• 10 minutes for basin work
A quarter head of foils can be used for highlights, lowlights or scattered placement throughout the most visible areas of the hair. It is ideal for adding movement, softly refreshing existing colour or introducing dimension without foiling a larger section of the head.
When the service is used exclusively for lowlights, toner may not be required.
When the hair is being lightened, a toner must also be booked. Add a treatment after the toner when required, followed by your preferred After-Colour Dry-Off, blow-dry or cutting service.
Half Head of Foils and Wash
$235 · Approximately 100 minutes
A broader foiling service designed to create more noticeable brightness, depth and dimension through the upper and visible sections of the hair.
The appointment allows approximately:
• 60 minutes for application
• 30 minutes for processing
• 10 minutes for basin work
A half head can be used for highlights, lowlights or a combination of both. Foils may be placed strategically throughout the top, sides, crown and face-framing areas to create a balanced result.
This service is suitable for clients wanting more coverage than a quarter head without requiring foils throughout the entire head.
Lowlights may not require toner. Lightening services require a toner to refine the colour.
Please also book any required treatment and your preferred After-Colour Dry-Off, blow-dry or cutting service.
Full Head of Foils and Wash
$299
A complete foiling service applied throughout the entire head to create comprehensive brightness, depth or multidimensional colour.
A full head of foils may be used for highlights, lowlights or a combination of both. It provides greater coverage through the underneath sections, crown, sides, hairline and top of the head.
This service is suitable for clients wanting a more complete colour result, a significant refresh of existing foils or balanced dimension throughout all areas of the hair.
When the hair is being lightened, a toner must also be booked. A treatment may be required after toning, followed by your selected dry-off, blow-dry, styling or cutting service.
The total appointment time will vary according to the hair’s length, density, existing colour and number of foils required.
Full Head Back-to-Back Foils
$440 · Consultation approval required
A highly detailed foiling service using very closely placed, baby-fine foils throughout the head.
Back-to-back foils are designed for situations requiring extensive lightening, maximum foil coverage or a more complete reset of the existing colour canvas. This service may be recommended when correcting uneven colour, removing larger areas of darkness or creating an exceptionally fine and blended blonde result.
Because of the intensity and complexity of the service, it should only be booked after Chantal has personally assessed your hair and confirmed that back-to-back foiling is appropriate.
This appointment may lead into several additional services, including:
• Root shadowing
• Toner or multiple toner applications
• Colour correction
• Bond-building or restorative treatments
• Additional colour balancing
• Cutting and detailed finishing
The final service plan, timing and total price will depend on the starting colour, previous chemical history, hair condition and required finish.
Which Foiling Service Should I Book?
Choose a Quarter Head of Foils for subtle placement, face-framing brightness or scattered dimension.
Choose a Half Head of Foils when you want a more visible result through the top, sides and crown.
Choose a Full Head of Foils when you want balanced highlights or lowlights throughout the entire head.
Only choose Full Head Back-to-Back Foils after Chantal has assessed your hair and confirmed that the service is required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between highlights and lowlights?
Highlights lighten selected sections of the hair to create brightness.
Lowlights introduce darker or deeper sections to create contrast, depth and dimension.
Both techniques may be used together when a multidimensional result is required.
Do all foiling services require a toner?
No. Lowlights alone may not require toner.
When the foils are used to lighten the hair, toner is generally required to neutralise unwanted tones and create the desired final shade.
Is toner included in the foil price?
No. Toner is booked separately because the required formulation and application may vary according to the amount of hair lightened and the desired result.
What is the difference between a quarter and half head of foils?
A quarter head focuses on selected visible areas and creates a more subtle refresh.
A half head covers a larger section of the top, sides and crown, creating a more noticeable and balanced result.
Can I book back-to-back foils online without a consultation?
No. Chantal must first assess your existing colour, hair history and condition before confirming that the service is safe and appropriate.
