Hair loss consultation with Chantal Haberland in Sydney

Hair Loss Services

Chantal’s Hair Restoration Program supports men and women experiencing thinning, excessive shedding, reduced density or changes in their normal hair-growth pattern.

With formal qualifications in trichology and an established history of working with hair and scalp concerns, Chantal begins by assessing the likely type and pattern of hair loss. She then develops a personalised program combining professional scalp care, appropriate topical support, scheduled microneedling and an individual home-care routine.

Hair loss can have many causes, and some require medical investigation. Chantal’s assessment does not replace diagnosis or treatment by a doctor or dermatologist. Where symptoms suggest an underlying medical, hormonal, nutritional, inflammatory or autoimmune issue, she may recommend that you seek medical assessment before or alongside the program.

Who is this service for?

The program may be suitable for men and women concerned about:

• Gradual thinning or reduced density
• Male- or female-pattern hair loss
• A widening part or increasingly visible scalp
• Receding areas or thinning around the hairline
• Increased shedding
• Weakened or miniaturised hair growth
• Changes following stress, illness or hormonal disruption
• Supporting an existing medically supervised hair-loss plan
• Improving scalp care and consistency with home treatment
• Understanding which products and treatment options may be appropriate

Common Concerns

• Increased hair shedding during washing or brushing
• A widening part or more visible scalp
• Gradual thinning through the crown or top of the head
• Receding hairline or thinning around the temples
• Reduced density and finer hair growth
• Hair that no longer feels as full as it once did
• Sudden or unexplained changes in shedding
• Male- or female-pattern hair loss
• Hair loss following stress, illness, hormonal changes or major life events
• Concerns about scalp health, build-up or poor circulation
• Difficulty knowing which products or treatments are appropriate
• Frustration after trying hair-loss products without a clear plan
• Wanting to support existing hair and reduce further decline
• Uncertainty about whether medical investigation is required
• Needing a structured professional and at-home hair-restoration program

Consultation and Approach

The first stage is a dedicated Hair Loss Consultation.

Chantal will discuss your concerns, family history, general health, medications, previous treatments, scalp condition and the progression of your hair loss. She will assess the scalp and hair-growth pattern before explaining the options that may be appropriate for you.

Your recommended plan may include:

• A personalised topical scalp formula
• Professional microneedling appointments
• Scalp cleansing, detoxification and massage
• Low-level laser cap use
• A structured home-care kit
• Progress photographs and reviews
• Referral to a doctor, dermatologist or other health professional where required

Topical minoxidil is commonly used for pattern hair loss in men and women, while finasteride is generally used for male-pattern hair loss and requires appropriate medical oversight. Suitability, contraindications and possible side effects must be reviewed by a qualified prescriber or pharmacist.

Results and maintenance

The program is built around identifying the likely cause of the hair loss and selecting a realistic, sustainable treatment pathway.

Rather than offering the same solution to every client, Chantal considers the pattern of loss, scalp environment, hair condition, lifestyle and capacity to maintain a regular home routine.

Where appropriate, a program may combine topical ingredients such as minoxidil, retinoid or peptide-based formulations with professional scalp microneedling. Prescription medicines, including finasteride, must only be used when prescribed or authorised by an appropriately qualified healthcare practitioner.

Microneedling creates controlled microchannels within the scalp. Research suggests it may provide additional benefit for some people with androgenetic hair loss when combined with minoxidil, although results vary and there is no single universally established treatment interval or protocol.

The At-Home Program

Following your consultation, Chantal may recommend a personalised home-care kit based on your individual requirements.

Your program may include guidance on:

• Which topical formula to apply
• How much product to use
• Where and how to apply it
• How frequently to use the product
• Scalp-cleansing and washing routines
• Low-level laser cap scheduling
• Product compatibility
• When professional treatments should be repeated
• When progress should be reviewed

Consistency is important. Hair-restoration programs generally require ongoing use, and visible changes may take several months. Results cannot be guaranteed, and stopping an effective treatment may allow the original hair-loss process to resume.

Price Guidance

-Hair Loss Consultation
$100 · 30 minutes

An initial assessment for men and women concerned about hair loss, thinning, excessive shedding or reduced density.

The consultation may lead to a personalised plan involving professional microneedling, topical support, low-level laser therapy, an at-home kit or medical referral.

The $100 consultation fee is redeemable toward the purchase of your recommended at-home hair-restoration kit or laser-cap package, subject to the final program selected.

Scalp Microneedling Approach

Before treatment, the scalp is cleansed to remove excess oil, product build-up and environmental residue. This creates a clean treatment area and prepares the scalp for the professional procedure.

Microneedling then creates controlled, superficial microchannels in the selected thinning areas. The aim is to support the scalp’s healing response and, where clinically appropriate, complement the approved topical program.

Microneedling is not suitable for every form of hair loss. It may need to be postponed or avoided when there is:

• An active scalp infection
• Open wounds or broken skin
• Significant inflammation or irritation
• An uncontrolled skin condition
• A bleeding disorder or relevant medication concern
• A history of abnormal scarring
• A medical condition affecting healing
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding where the proposed topical treatment is unsuitable

Chantal will review suitability before proceeding and may request medical clearance.

-Low-Level Laser Cap Support

Low-level laser or light therapy may be recommended as part of the home program or offered after selected professional appointments.

It is used for some forms of male- and female-pattern hair loss, but results vary and it should not be presented as a guaranteed solution. Evidence and device quality differ, so the recommended schedule should be followed consistently.

Results and Program Commitment

Hair restoration requires patience and regular commitment.

The timeframe and degree of improvement depend on:

• The cause and duration of the hair loss
• Whether active follicles remain in the thinning area
• Age and genetic factors
• Hormonal and general health influences
• Scalp health
• Consistency with topical and laser use
• Attendance at recommended appointments
• Nutrition, illness, stress and medication factors
• The response of the individual follicles

The goals may include reducing excessive shedding, supporting healthier scalp conditions, maintaining existing density or encouraging improved growth where follicles remain responsive.

No ethical hair-loss practitioner can guarantee complete regrowth. Some conditions require medical treatment, and advanced or longstanding loss may respond less strongly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Chantal diagnose my hair loss?

Chantal can complete a trichological assessment, identify the apparent pattern and discuss likely contributing factors.
A definitive medical diagnosis may require a general practitioner, dermatologist, blood testing or other clinical investigation. Chantal will recommend referral when the presentation is outside the scope of a salon-based trichology service.

Do I need a consultation before booking microneedling?

Yes. Microneedling sessions should only be booked after Chantal has assessed your scalp, discussed your hair-loss history and confirmed that the treatment is appropriate.

Why are sessions recommended fortnightly?

Chantal’s program commonly uses fortnightly appointments to provide consistency while allowing the scalp time between professional sessions.
The exact schedule may be adjusted according to scalp response, treatment depth, topical products and medical advice. Published microneedling studies have used varied schedules, so frequency should be individually determined rather than treated as universal.

Does microneedling guarantee hair regrowth?

No, however research is encouraging for some people with pattern hair loss, particularly when microneedling is combined with an appropriate topical treatment, but results vary and not every type of hair loss responds.

Can topical treatments be applied immediately after microneedling?

Only the product specifically approved for your professional treatment should be applied.
Microneedling can increase product penetration and irritation risk. Do not independently apply minoxidil, retinoids, prescription products, essential oils or other active formulations immediately afterward unless Chantal and the relevant healthcare professional have confirmed that it is appropriate.

Every Hair Restoration Program begins with a consultation.
Chantal will assess your concerns, explain the available options and help you understand whether professional scalp care, topical support, microneedling, low-level laser therapy or medical referral is the appropriate next step.
