Professional hair smoothing treatment by Chantal Haberland in Surry Hills

Smoothing Treatments

Chantal’s professional smoothing treatments are designed to reduce frizz, improve manageability and create a smoother, more polished finish while respecting your natural hair texture and condition.

Rather than using one treatment for every client, Chantal works with several professional systems, including Floractive Nanoplasty, Majestic Keratin and KeraGreen, allowing the service to be selected according to your curl pattern, density, colour history, condition and desired level of smoothing.

Every treatment is activated and sealed using professional blow-drying and straightening techniques. Some clients want a straighter, more transformative result, while others simply want less frizz and easier styling without removing their natural wave or curl.

Who is this service for?

These services may be suitable for clients wanting to:

• Reduce persistent frizz and unwanted volume
• Make thick or coarse hair easier to manage
• Shorten everyday blow-drying and styling time
• Create a smoother and more polished finish
• Improve softness, movement and shine
• Relax an overly strong curl pattern
• Maintain some natural curl while reducing frizz
• Improve manageability in humid weather
• Reduce the need for frequent straightener use
• Select a treatment compatible with an existing colour plan

Common Concerns

• Hair becoming frizzy as soon as it is exposed to humidity
• Thick hair taking a long time to dry and style
• Hair feeling excessively bulky or difficult to control
• Uneven curl and frizz patterns
• Natural waves lacking definition or smoothness
• Hair looking dull or rough despite regular styling
• Wanting straighter hair without traditional permanent straightening
• Wanting to keep natural movement while reducing puffiness
• Colour fading during some smoothing treatments
• Uncertainty about which smoothing system is appropriate
• Long or dense hair requiring additional appointment time
• Difficulty maintaining a smooth salon finish at home

Consultation and Approach

Before beginning the service, Chantal will assess:

• Hair length and density
• Natural texture and curl pattern
• The amount of frizz and unwanted volume
• Hair porosity and condition
• Previous bleach, colour and chemical services
• The desired degree of straightness
• Whether natural curl should be maintained
• Upcoming tinting, toning or foiling appointments
• The additional time required for long or thick hair

A strand assessment may be required when the hair is significantly lightened, fragile, highly porous or has an extensive chemical history.

Smoothing treatments are not permanent chemical straightening services. Results gradually soften as the hair is washed and grows.

Choosing the Right Smoothing Treatment

Each system produces a different level of smoothing.

Floractive Nanoplasty is the strongest smoothing option on this page and is generally selected for medium-to-thick, voluminous, dry or highly frizz-prone hair.

Majestic Keratin is a versatile smoothing treatment suitable for a broad range of hair types when the goal is a smoother, more manageable finish.

KeraGreen is the gentler option for clients who want to soften frizz and add control without substantially removing the hair’s natural fall, curl or movement.

Chantal will assess the hair before confirming which service is most appropriate.

Floractive Nanoplasty

Floractive describes its W One Premium Nanoplasty as an intensive professional smoothing system intended particularly for voluminous, dry and frizz-prone hair. Its professional formula contains hydrolysed keratin, amino acids, hydrolysed wheat protein and coconut oil and is heat-sealed to create a smoother, shinier and more manageable finish. The manufacturer advises that longevity varies and may extend for several months with suitable maintenance.

Nanoplasty is Chantal’s preferred option for clients with very frizzy, medium-to-thick hair who want a stronger smoothing result.

It can significantly reduce the amount of daily work required to control bulky, resistant or humidity-reactive hair. The result is intended to feel smoother and easier to dry rather than coated or rigid.

Results and maintenance

Longevity varies according to:

• The smoothing system selected
• Natural texture and curl strength
• Hair condition and porosity
• Shampoo frequency
• The products used at home
• Swimming and salt-water exposure
• Heat styling
• New hair growth
• Previous colour and lightening services

To extend the result, Chantal may recommend:

• A gentle professional shampoo
• A smoothing or moisture-supporting conditioner
• Reduced use of clarifying shampoo
• Heat protection before styling
• Thorough drying rather than leaving the hair damp for prolonged periods
• Protection from chlorine and salt water
• Regular conditioning treatments

Floractive states that Nanoplasty longevity may extend for several months, although the real result varies between clients and depends heavily on texture, application and maintenance.

Price Guidance

Nanoplasty Smoothing Treatment

$450 · Approximately 4 hours

The service includes approximately:

• 30 minutes for preparation and product application
• 60 minutes for processing
• 2½ hours for rinsing, blow-drying, precision straightening, sealant conditioner, final wash, treatment and finished blow-dry

The treatment is thoroughly heat-activated and sealed section by section. Chantal then completes the required rinsing, conditioning and final styling process so that you leave with the finished result visible.

Nanoplasty may be coordinated with selected tinting or toning services on the same day when Chantal has confirmed that the combination is appropriate for your hair.

Bleaching and extensive lightening require a more carefully planned schedule. Floractive advises that the timing of colour and bleaching around Nanoplasty should be managed according to the service and condition of the hair.

Additional time must be booked for hair that is longer or thicker than average.

Majestic Keratin

Majestic Keratin is offered as a versatile smoothing option for clients wanting softer, smoother and more manageable hair across a broad range of textures.

It is particularly useful when the primary concerns are frizz, daily styling time, unwanted volume and difficulty creating a polished blow-dry.

The hair is cleansed, treated, rinsed, blow-dried and heat-sealed to create the finished result.

Because this treatment can shift or fade artificial colour, Chantal plans colour services separately:

• Darker tinting or colour maintenance may generally be completed two days later
• Foiling and lightening services should generally be scheduled at least one week later

These intervals form part of Chantal’s salon protocol and may be adjusted according to the condition and colour history of your hair.

Majestic Keratin Smoothing Treatment

$400 · Approximately 3½ hours

The service includes approximately:

• 30 minutes for detox shampooing and application
• 60 minutes for processing
• 2 hours for rinsing, blow-drying and detailed straightening

The hair is clarified first so the smoothing formula can be applied evenly. After processing, Chantal rinses the hair before blow-drying and sealing the treatment with controlled heat.

This treatment requires a 24-hour settling period. During that time, the hair must not become wet.

Avoid:

• Washing or dampening the hair
• Swimming
• Heavy perspiration where possible
• Tying the hair tightly
• Tucking it firmly behind the ears
• Using clips or accessories that may leave an indentation

When darker colour is required, book the colour appointment approximately two days after the smoothing treatment. Allow at least one week before foiling or lightening unless Chantal provides different instructions following assessment.

Additional time must be booked for long or dense hair.

KeraGreen Keratin

KeraGreen is Chantal’s gentler smoothing option for clients who still want to see and feel their natural movement.

Rather than aiming for a strongly straightened finish, the service is designed to soften frizz, reduce unwanted bulk and help the hair fall more smoothly.

It may be particularly suitable for wavy or curly clients who want:

• Less frizz without completely straight hair
• Better curl manageability
• Softer natural movement
• Reduced puffiness and expansion
• Easier blow-drying
• A more controlled finish between washes

KeraGreen Keratin Smoothing Treatment

$350 · Approximately 3 hours

A gentle smoothing treatment designed to support strength, manageability and control while retaining more of the natural fall of the hair.

The service includes approximately:

• 30 minutes for detox shampooing, drying and application
• 60 minutes for processing
• 90 minutes to complete the rinsing, drying and heat-sealing stages

This is the most suitable option on the page for clients who do not necessarily want straight hair but would like their curls, waves or natural texture to feel softer and less frizz-prone.

Results will vary according to the original curl pattern, density, condition and heat-sealing technique.

Additional time must be booked for longer or thicker hair.

Additional Smoothing Treatment Time

Smoothing treatments require meticulous sectioning, blow-drying and straightening. Long or dense hair cannot be completed correctly within a standard appointment allocation.

Extra Keratin Time — Long Hair

$50 · Additional 30 minutes

Book this option when your hair is longer than average but not exceptionally thick.

This additional time allows for:

• Extra product application
• More detailed sectioning
• Longer blow-drying time
• Complete heat activation through the lengths

Extra Keratin Time — Long and Thick Hair

$100 · Additional 60 minutes

Book this option when your hair is both long and significantly dense or thick.

This is also appropriate when the hair:

• Is exceptionally coarse
• Has extensive natural curl
• Requires very small straightening sections
• Takes considerably longer than average to dry
• Extends well beyond the shoulder blades

When uncertain, send Chantal current photographs before booking so sufficient time can be reserved.

What Results Can I Expect?
The final result depends on the treatment selected.

Nanoplasty:Usually provides the strongest reduction in frizz, curl and unwanted volume. It is most appropriate for clients seeking a more transformative smoothing result.

Majestic Keratin:Provides versatile smoothing, softness and greater styling control across many hair types.

KeraGreen: Provides gentler frizz reduction while preserving more natural wave, curl and movement.

No smoothing treatment can guarantee completely straight hair on every texture. Resistant, tightly curled or highly dense hair may retain some movement and still require blow-drying to achieve a straight finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between smoothing and permanent straightening?

Smoothing treatments reduce frizz, bulk and curl while improving manageability. They gradually soften and fade.
Permanent chemical straightening restructures the hair more extensively, and the treated portion remains permanently altered as new natural hair grows from the roots.

Which treatment gives the straightest result?

Nanoplasty generally provides the strongest smoothing and straightening effect of the three services.
The final degree of straightness still depends on your texture, condition and how the hair responds.

Which treatment is best when I want to keep my curls?

KeraGreen is generally the most appropriate starting point when you want to retain curl or wave but reduce frizz.

Will a smoothing treatment completely remove my curl?

Not necessarily.

The result depends on the system, original curl pattern, hair density and heat-sealing process. KeraGreen is intentionally selected when more natural movement is desired.

Can I colour my hair on the same day as Nanoplasty?

Selected tinting and toning services may be possible on the same day when Chantal has assessed the hair and approved the service plan.
Bleaching and extensive lightening require separate planning.
