Chantal’s vivid colour services are designed for clients wanting bold, expressive and highly personalised colour without compromising the health of the hair unnecessarily.
Vivid shades are applied after the hair has first been lightened to create a clean, even canvas. The quality and brightness of the final result depend heavily on the starting colour, the level of lightness achieved and the condition of the hair.
Chantal developed her vivid-colour skills through training with Guy Tang, where creating a completely blank canvas through extensive scalp lightening is commonly used. Chantal has adapted these techniques with hair health as the priority, using more considered lightening strategies wherever possible to reduce unnecessary stress while still working toward the desired vivid colour direction.
Vivid toners are direct dyes. They are vegan-friendly and formulated without PPD, ammonia or resorcinol.

The Lightening Stage
Vivid toner does not substantially lighten natural or previously coloured hair. It deposits colour onto the existing lightened canvas.
A separate lightening service must therefore be completed first when the hair is not already light enough to support the desired shade.

Results and maintenance
The finished result may range from one bold all-over shade to a more detailed blend of several vivid colours.

Vivid colours are direct dyes and will gradually fade with washing. Softer pastels generally fade more quickly, while deeper and more saturated colours may remain visible for longer.

Some vivid pigments can remain in the hair after the visible colour has faded. This may affect future lightening, toning or colour-correction services, so Chantal should always be informed of your previous vivid-colour history.
The correct maintenance schedule will depend on the selected shades, washing routine, hair condition and how quickly you are comfortable with the colour softening.

This service is completed after the required lightening appointment and may be used to create:

A more detailed creative-colour service using multiple vivid shades throughout the prepared hair.
This service may involve:

The appointment allows approximately:

The additional application time allows Chantal to separate, place and blend several colours carefully while reducing unwanted colour transfer between sections.
A treatment may be required after the toner. An appropriate dry-off, blow-dry, styling or cutting service must also be booked.
Which Vivid Service Should I Book?
Choose Vivid Toner — One or Two Colours All Over when the finished result requires a single shade or a relatively simple two-colour design.
Choose Vivid Multicolour Toner All Over when the result involves three or more colours, detailed panels, colour melting or a more complex creative placement.
Neither service includes the lightening work required to prepare the hair.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can vivid toner be applied to dark hair?
Vivid direct dye generally requires a lightened canvas to appear bright and true to tone.
On darker hair, the colour may not be visible or may appear much deeper and more muted.
Is lightening included in the vivid toner price?
No. The required foiling, balayage, scalp lightening or colour-correction service must be booked separately before the vivid toner.
Does my hair need to be platinum blonde?
Not every vivid colour requires the same level of lightness.
Some deeper reds, purples and blues may work over a darker blonde base, while pastels and cleaner shades usually require a much lighter and more even canvas.

Are vivid colours permanent?
No. These vivid toners are direct dyes that gradually fade with washing.
However, some pigments may stain the hair and remain present beneath the faded colour.
Why should I avoid hot water?
Hot water can cause the cuticle to swell and release direct-dye pigment more quickly.
Lukewarm to cold water helps reduce premature fading.
